Emergency Plumber in Los Angeles

24/7 Emergency Plumbing Repair. Family-Owned LA Plumber Since 2015. Call (626) 243-3689.

A burst pipe, a sewer backing up into the tub, a water heater dumping forty gallons across the garage floor. When water is going where it should not, you need a plumber who answers the phone and shows up. Papa’s Plumbing Inc. takes emergency plumbing calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across Los Angeles, Glendale, Pasadena, Encino, La Cañada Flintridge, and the surrounding San Fernando and San Gabriel Valley neighborhoods. We are a third-generation, family-owned plumber, licensed in California, and we have handled after-hours emergencies since 2015. Call (626) 243-3689 now, or request service online if the problem can wait a few hours.

Plumbing Problems That Cannot Wait Until Morning

Not every plumbing problem is an emergency. A dripping faucet can wait for a scheduled visit. These cannot, because every hour adds water damage, health risk, or both.

  • Burst or Split Pipe: A single broken supply line can release hundreds of gallons in an hour. Shut the main valve and call.
  • Sewer Backup: Wastewater coming up through a tub, shower, or floor drain means the main line is blocked. Stop running water and keep people away from the affected area.
  • Water Heater Leaking or Failing: A tank that is leaking from the bottom is usually corroded through and can let go at any time. Close the cold-water supply valve on top of the unit and turn the gas control to off or switch off the breaker.
  • Overflowing Toilet That Will Not Stop: Close the supply valve behind the toilet. If the water keeps rising, a blockage further down the line is the real problem.
  • No Water at All: A sudden loss of water pressure through the whole house can point to a broken main line between the street and the house.
  • Sump Pump Failure During a Storm: If the pit is filling and the pump is silent, the crawlspace or basement is next.
  • Leak Inside a Wall or Ceiling: Bulging drywall, a spreading stain, or a ceiling that is dripping needs the water shut off and a plumber on the way.

If you smell gas, leave the building first and call your gas utility’s emergency line before you call us.

Emergency Plumbing Services We Provide

Our trucks carry the parts and equipment for the emergencies we see most in Los Angeles homes, so most urgent repairs are completed on the first visit.

  • Burst Pipe and Leak Repair: Copper, PEX, and galvanized supply lines, including leaks inside walls and under slabs.
  • Sewer and Main Line Clearing: Cabling and hydro jetting to clear a blocked main, plus a camera inspection when the line keeps backing up. See our sewer line repair and sewer camera inspection services.
  • Emergency Drain Cleaning: Kitchen sinks, tubs, showers, and floor drains that are backing up right now. Details on our drain cleaning service.
  • Water Heater Repair and Same-Day Replacement: Leaking tanks, failed gas valves, and units with no hot water. Our water heater service covers tank and tankless units.
  • Toilet, Faucet, and Fixture Emergencies: Overflows, broken supply lines, and cracked fixtures.
  • Water Line Repair: Broken lines between the meter and the house. See water line repair and replacement.
  • Sump Pump Repair: Pumps that stopped running, keep tripping the breaker, or cannot keep up during heavy rain.

What to Do Before the Plumber Arrives

The first few minutes matter more than anything we do afterward. These steps limit the damage while our technician is on the way.

  • Shut Off the Water: For a single fixture, close the valve under the sink or behind the toilet. For anything else, close the main shut-off valve, usually near the front of the house where the water line enters, or at the meter box by the sidewalk.
  • Turn Off the Water Heater: If the heater is leaking or the house has no water, close its cold-water inlet valve and set the gas control to off, or switch off the breaker for an electric unit. A heater that runs dry can be ruined.
  • Kill Power to Wet Areas: If water has reached outlets, appliances, or light fixtures, switch off the breaker for that area before you step in.
  • Stop Using Drains and Toilets: During a sewer backup, every flush and every load of laundry sends more wastewater into the house.
  • Move What You Can: Lift rugs, boxes, and furniture out of the water. Photograph the damage for your insurance claim before you clean up.
  • Skip the Chemical Drain Cleaner: Caustic products sit in a blocked pipe and can burn the technician who opens it. Leave the line alone until we arrive.

What Happens When You Call

Your call goes to a person, not a voicemail. Tell us what is happening and where the water is coming from, and we will tell you which valve to close while we dispatch the nearest available technician.

On site, the technician finds the source, stops the water, and explains what failed and what it will take to fix it before the repair starts. Most emergency repairs are completed in the same visit. When a full replacement is the right answer, such as a water heater that has rusted through, we make the system safe first and complete the replacement as soon as the parts are on the truck, usually the same day.

Every job is done by a licensed plumber, with permits pulled where Los Angeles County requires them, and the work area cleaned up before we leave.

Emergency Plumbing Questions

We dispatch the nearest available technician as soon as you call and give you the current arrival window on the phone. Travel time depends on where you are and the time of day, so call first and shut off the water while you wait.

Yes. Close the valve nearest the problem, or the main shut-off valve if you cannot isolate it. Stopping the water is the single most effective thing you can do to limit damage before we get there.

A tank leaking from the bottom usually is. It means the tank has corroded through and can fail completely. Close the cold-water supply on top of the unit, turn the gas control to off or switch off the breaker, and call us.

Yes. Papa’s Plumbing is open 24 hours a day, every day of the week, including holidays.

Stop using every drain and toilet, keep people and pets out of the affected area, and call. We clear the main line, and if it keeps backing up we run a camera to find the cause, whether that is roots, a collapsed section, or a buildup that needs hydro jetting.
